Building Model Airplanes

When you are ready to start building a model airplane, you need to start from a kit, obtain a pattern to follow,
or build by hand. It’s important to have a workbench ready that should include a cork-board base.
You will also need some balsa wood which is properly sized for length and thickness,
and you’ll need to consider and obtain the covering material (tissue paper or Mylar).
Usually, a modeler will begin with a kit that contains instructions as well as the wood already cut to size.
Tools that are helpful include a sharp exacto blade, and some glue and pins.

As you increase your knowledge of building models, you might be able to obtain a pattern that has been published,
and scale the pattern to fit the type or size of model airplane you want to build.
Patterns are published in many articles and magazines, and are also available for purchase.
